Store Watch
I'll keep an eye on your Magento store, so you hear about problems before your customers do. Uptime, new scripts, health checks and expiry dates, for less than a coffee a month.
I built this after my own store was hacked. Read what happened.
Up and running
Your home page is checked every 5 minutes. If it stops working, you get an email, and another when it's back.
New script alerts
Card skimmers get in by adding a script from a website your shop has never used. Every morning I compare your pages' scripts with everything seen before and tell you the moment a new one appears.
Daily health check
The full Magento store health check runs every morning. You hear about anything new: exposed files, missing patches, a public version number.
Expiry warnings
A reminder if your HTTPS certificate hasn't renewed, or your domain name is about to lapse. Both quietly take a shop offline.
Monthly report
A short email on the 1st: uptime, health check results, certificate and domain dates. Plain English, no jargon.
A real person
Every alert comes from me, Stuart. Reply to any of them and you'll get an answer, and if something needs fixing I'll tell you exactly what it costs first.
Can't see the email in a few minutes? Please check your junk or spam folder and mark it as "not spam", so alerts reach your inbox.
No false alarms
An alert you learn to ignore is worse than none, so Store Watch is careful before it emails you:
- A failed check is retried straight away, and your store is only reported down after failing two checks in a row, five minutes apart.
- Before believing a failure, I check my own connection to the internet, so a problem at my end never alerts you.
- If your firewall challenges my check, that counts as "can't tell", not "down". If it keeps happening, I'll email you once to explain how to let the checks through.
- Health check problems are only emailed when they're new. Known issues go in the monthly report.
- New scripts from well-known services (Google, PayPal, Klarna and so on) go in the monthly report. New scripts from anywhere else get an email the same morning.
Good to know
Will it slow my store down?
No. It's one ordinary page request every 5 minutes, plus about ten in the morning: far less than a single visitor browsing. Requests identify themselves as BluePrint3D-StoreWatch.
What can't it see?
Store Watch looks at your store from the outside, like a customer would. It can't see inside your server, so it isn't a full malware scan, and it can't see scripts that are only added later by other scripts, or a skimmer that only shows on the payment step. It catches the common warning signs early, which is what most small shops are missing.
Does it only work with Magento?
Uptime, script, certificate and domain checks work on any shop. The health check is built for Magento, and runs its general security checks on other platforms.
How do I cancel?
Every email has a link to your store's status page, where you can cancel the £5 plan or stop everything in one click. You can also cancel from your PayPal account.
